Rachel M. Andrews, 87, of Plainfield, Indiana, left this earth to join her Heavenly family on July 27, 2022. Rachel was born on June 23, 1935, to the late Chester (“Don”) and Ethel (Maners) Clark. She was a graduate of Plainfield High School and attended Indiana University, Bloomington. She was a member of the Delta Zeta sorority. Rachel married her high school sweetheart, Raymond Andrews in 1956, and they were married for 58 years before he passed away in 2015. Rachel spent time in Germany while Raymond was in the US Army General Corps of Engineers from 1957-59. Over the years, she served in different capacities at Andrews Agency and the Plainfield License Branch. She was also employed with the Town of Plainfield for many years prior to her retirement. Rachel was a true angel to everyone who knew her. She possessed a strong faith that led her daily walk. She had a smile and a laugh that was contagious and saw the good in all people she met. Rachel always found a silver lining in even the darkest of times. Rachel, and her late husband Raymond, had a group of friends who wrote the book on friendship. She loved to bake, especially for Raymond. Rachel loved to throw parties and celebrate life, where she played the piano while Raymond led the singing. She was quite the dancer as she and Raymond loved to jitterbug. Their love of music was passed down to their children and their families. She lived for her family and always put them first. She was the mom who was a best friend to her children and ensured that her house was open to all, including welcoming many people to the dinner table every Sunday. She was the epitome of a role model to all of her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren who were her pride and joy! Rachel loved playing games, participating in a Bridge Club for many years and teaching her grandchildren how to play Crazy 8s, Rummy and Chinese Checkers. She loved animals, especially her many dogs over the years. She made us all smile and laugh just by being her silly, sweet and genuine self. Despite her age, she was well versed in technology, streaming all her favorite shows and often sharing memes, texts and funny videos with her family. She was so very loved by her family and leaves them with so many memories that will last their lifetimes. Rachel was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Andrews; parents, Chester (“Don”) and Ethel (Maners) Clark; in-laws Raymond (“Van”) and Hortense (“Alice”) (Boyce) Andrews Sr.; brother, Eugene Clark; and great grandson, Joshua Andrews Jr. She is survived by her children, Venetia (Don) Faulkenberg Zinsmaster, Kevin (Adrianna) Andrews, and Christi Crimmins. She is also survived by her niece, Jennifer Clark; grandchildren Lindsay (Josh) Scott, Josh (Lindsey) Andrews, Ross Faulkenberg, Chad (Emily) Andrews, Cole Crimmins, Carson Crimmins, Jack Basson, Hayley Zinsmaster, Luke (Rachel) Zinsmaster); along with great grandchildren AJ, Miles, Gracelyn and Madelyn Andrews, Lincoln and Cole Zinsmaster; as well as many other family members and friends who were family. In lieu of flowers and to honor Rachel’s giving spirit, the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Kids’ Voice of Indiana (kidsvoicein.org), a non-profit that advocates for children where her granddaughter Lindsay has worked for 10+ years. Rachel’s family invites you to join us for visitation from 11:00 am to 1:30 pm on Tuesday, August 2, 2022 at the Plainfield Christian Church (800 Dan Jones Road, Plainfield, IN 46168) with a service following at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.
