William "Bill" Long

May 28, 1931 — January 10, 2019

William "Bill" Long, 87, of Speedway, passed away on January 10, 2019.  He was born on May 28, 1931 in Indianapolis to the late Hugh and Margaret Long.  Bill was an United States Army veteran and served during the Korean War.  He was a general contractor and has been retired since 1980.  Bill also worked for National Cash Register for 19 years.  He loved to work. Bill and Dottie volunteered for 5 years during Hurricane Katrina.  They made 8 different trips during that time.  Bill volunteered for the Habitat for Humanity and the Salvation Army.  He was preceded in death by his daughter, Lisa Jean Long and a son, Joe Tobias.  Funeral services will be Saturday, January 12, 2019 at 2:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may visit from 1:00 pm until the time of service.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Survivors include his loving wife, Dottie Long; sons, Walter (Ellen) and Kyle Long; daughters, Sharon Longstreth and Pamela Reed; 10 grandchildren; 6 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.  In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to St. Vincent Hospice (8450 N. Payne Rd. Suite 100 Indianapolis, IN 46268).
