William "Bill" Lee

William “Bill” Lee, of Plainfield, passed away on September 29, 2023.  He was born in Linton, IN on June 7, 1951 to the late Lawrence and Margaret Lee.  Bill graduated from Latin School, Indianapolis, in 1969. Bill was President and CEO of the North American Retail Hardware Association and had worked there for over 20 years retiring in 2017.  He was also General Chairman of the International National Hardware Association. Through his job, Bill and Jane have made many good friends within the hardware industry in the US and throughout Europe. He enjoyed cooking, painting, gardening, reading, boating, wood working, bike riding and traveling in his free time.  Bill was specially fond of going to their family cabin in the northern woods of Wisconsin. He even built a wooden fishing boat which took 11 years to finish to take to the cabin. Bill loved going on walks with his beloved dog Sophie. Spending time with his family was the most important thing to him in his life.  Funeral services will be Friday, October 6, 2023 at 1:00 pm in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may visit from 10:30 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.  Survivors include his loving wife, Jane Lee; son, Zach Lee; daughters, Amy (Tom) Marcum and Elizabeth (Joey) Lucich; brothers, Tom (Darla) Lee and Tony (Kathy) Lee; grandchildren, Brandon, Taylor Ann, Will, Henry and Taylor Nicole; great grandchildren, Kai, Lake and Barrie.  In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, P.O.
