Velma Frances Cummings, 86, of Brownsburg passed away January 24, 2022. She was born May 20, 1935 to the late Charles and Nellie (Acton) Wilburn in Somerset, KY. She was a realtor for FC Tucker and later for Paul Hardin Real Estate. She was a member of Chapel Rock Christian Church. Velma loved her daughter, granddaughter and definitely her great granddaughters with all of her heart. Even when she was ill, a FaceTime call with her great granddaughters always made her smile and made her day. She was also a cat lover. She was Grandma to all of them - spoiling them as much as she could. Mother was a very strong, willful and independent woman. She was the "fixy" type of lady, she would not go out to grab something she needed quickly unless she was looking her best. I think that being a successful realtor was her calling, both in the way she presented herself and the way she kept her house and wanted things around her, Even in the hospital, she wanted her sheets fixed neatly - no sheets and/or blankets in disarray. She was also very loving and took good care of us as long as she could. Afterwards she would arrange for someone to help her get what she wanted done for us. She is survived by her daughter, Dana L. Beard; 2 grandchildren, Danica (Will) Garrison and Damien (Kara) Beard; and 7 great grandchildren, Norah and Lilly Garrison, Mason, Corinne, Silas, Elias and Laurel Beard. A graveside service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the chapel at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield, where friends may call on Saturday from 10:30 am until service time. Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to Susan G. Komen Cancer Foundation at komencentralindiana.org/donate
