Suzanne "Susie" Durell

Suzanne "Susie" Durell, 86, of Plainfield, passed away on October 2, 2017.  She was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 7, 1931 to the late Harry and Veva (Griffin) Spear.  Susie was a 1949 graduate of Plainfield High School.  She attended Indiana State Teachers College and graduated in 1953.  Susie belonged to the Epsilon Delta Sorority while in school.  She taught home economics for 2 years in Monterey, CA and 2 years at Clayton High School.  Susie also taught Weekday Religious Education "WRE" for the Plainfield Community Schools.  She would substitute teach for many different schools around the area.  Susie belonged to the Plainfield United Methodist Church, Tri Kappa Sorority, PEO, and the Friday Club.  She was preceded in death by her husband, James "Jim" Durell.  Funeral services will be Saturday, October 7, at 10:00 am in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Friday, October 6, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Survivors include her sons, Dr. Bruce (Brenda) and Dr. David (Laura) Durell; sister, Shirley (David) Eads; grandchildren, Katie Silver, Jonathan, Julia, Paul and Claire Durell.
