Robert Alan Stilwell

Robert Alan Stilwell, 92, of Plainfield, passed away on December 8, 2018.  He was born in Dubois County, IN on December 31, 1925 to the late Thomas and Augusta (Kruger) Stilwell.  Robert Alan was an Untied States Army veteran and served during WWII.  He received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University in 1951.  Robert Alan was an electrical engineer for Allison Transmission Inc. for 30 years retiring in 1986.  He was a charter member of the Plainfield Jaycees.  Robert Alan belonged to the VFW Post #2366 in Huntingburg, IN.  He was a Boy Scout Leader.  Robert Alan was very devoted to his family and loved them very much.  He enjoyed fishing in his spare time.  He was a member of the Plainfield United Methodist Church.  Robert Alan was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Viola (Cox) Stilwell; sisters, Elizabeth Stilwell, Jessie Miller, Katherine Brocker and Dorothy Stilwell; brother, Richard Stilwell.  Survivors include his son, Steve A. (wife, Jan Arnold) Stilwell; daughter, Sandy L. (husband, Dave Rickard) Stilwell-Rickard; grandchildren, Carrie (Ryan) Mears, Susan (Doug) Gommel, Brandy (Andy) Miller and Ben (Ali) Petty; 16 great grandchildren. Memorial services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, December 15, 2018 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield and where friends may call on Saturday, from 10:00 am until service time at 12:00 noon.  A private burial will take place at a later date in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Plainfield United Methodist Church.
