Born May 22, 1936, he was the son of Roy Eugene and Maryan Eileen (Franklin) Lydick.   Bob was a 1954 graduate of Amo High School where he played basketball on the Amo Aces team. He attended electronics school from 1954-1955 and served stateside in the U.S. Army from 1958-1960.  Bob began a 34-year career with Public Service Indiana, retiring in 1989 as a Systems Analyst.  After retirement, he enjoyed a new pastime, working for 18 years as a driver for Enterprise Rent-A-Car.  Bob married Judith Ann Church on May 27, 1961, and they enjoyed 53 years of marriage before her passing in 2014.  He was a life-long Christian, attributing much of his early religious guidance and discipline to his grandmother, Mae (Noel) Franklin. The Lydicks were members of the First Baptist Church of Plainfield, where over the years Bob served as a deacon, Sunday School teacher, trustee, and sang in the choir.   A gentle, kind man of integrity, he was known for sharing his wonderful smile to all.  He fondly remembered accompanying his grandmother to Alaska in 1957 to visit his brother who was stationed there in the Army. He was proud to be the brother of Billy, Bonnie and Ron. He enjoyed playing golf and mowing the lawn with his beloved riding lawn mower. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren (Zack, Maddie, John Jr., David) and his two great-grandchildren (Rhys and Rylee).  He is survived by his children, Larry (Tammi) Lydick and Reann (John) Poray; sister Bonnie Gaston, brother Ron (Karen) Lydick; grandchildren Zachary and Madeline Lydick, John Jr. (Masita) Poray, David Poray; great-grandchildren Rhys and Rylee Poray; many nieces and nephews and extended family.  The Lydick family wishes to thank the staff at Cumberland Trace and Paradigm Hospice for their excellent care of Bob during his final months.  Memorial contributions for Bob may be directed to First Baptist Church of Plainfield, 1012 Stafford Road, Plainfield, IN  46168.  Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, April 12, 2022 in the First Baptist Church of Plainfield, where friends may call on Tuesday from 12 noon until service time at 2:00 pm.  Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.  Arrangement by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.  www.hamptongentry.com
