Robert A. (Bob) Russell died in Plainfield on April 27, 2023. He was born in Hendricks County on July 18, 1931, to the late Ralph C. and Marie (Branson) Russell.
After high school, Bob was in the US Naval Construction Battalion, also known as Seabees. After his service he worked as a driver for Richardson Rubber Company, receiving an award for driving a million miles accident free. After his retirement from Richardson Rubber Company, he started a small home remodeling business and then later he concentrated his time working on various projects in his woodworking shop.
Bob and his wife Dot enjoyed their travels throughout the United States and the Caribbean.
Survivors include his wife Dorothy (Dot) McKemey Russell; daughters Linda S. Thompson and Myra (Tom) Hanna both of Plainfield; his son Douglas (Melissa) Russell of Mooresville; and daughter Glenda (Mella) Torrence of Bastrop, Texas. He had 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.
He was preceded in death by a son Steven A. Russell, sister Marlene Brock and brother Ralph Junior Russell.
Bob was a member of Larrabee Masonic Lodge #131 in Stilesville for the past 62 years.
Visitation will be held at Hampton Gentry Funeral Home in Plainfield on May 8th at 12 (noon). A Masonic Service will begin at 1pm.
Inurnment will be in Stilesville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to his favorite charity, the Alzheimer’s Association.
