Rita Marie Ringwood, 96, of Plainfield, passed away on February 1, 2022. She was born on February 24, 1925, in Kearney, NJ to the late William and Gertrude Gould. Rita was one of seven children. Rita was married for 24 years to Christopher Ringwood who retired from the United States Navy. She was a charter member of St. Christopher Catholic Church, Speedway, Indiana and currently a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church in Plainfield, Indiana. Rita loved going to her grandchildren's and great grandchildren's sporting events and activities. She never missed a Plainfield High School basketball game in all the years her son in law was the head coach. She enjoyed crafts, gardening, genealogy and was an avid reader. Rita coached volleyball and kickball for St. Christopher Catholic School. Her teams were Indianapolis City Champions for the Catholic Youth Organization. Rita was a passionate Notre Dame football fan and planned Saturdays around game time. “Rainbow Rita”, as she affectionally known, loved shopping at Aldi and would spend hours strolling up and down the aisles hunting for deals and treasures. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Survivors include her daughters, Penny Tandy (Michael Mendenhall), Kris (Dana) Greene and Lori Dimond; son, Brian (Becky) Ringwood; 10 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren.
