Raymond “Ray” Kennedy Marshall, 70, passed away March 10, 2025, in Plainfield, Indiana. Born on August 15, 1954, in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Ray lived a life defined by hard work, resilience, and an unwavering love for his family. From an early age, Ray understood the value of dedication. At just 10 years old, he began working on sod farms, a job that instilled in him a work ethic that would carry through his entire life. At 17, he enlisted in the United States Army and served overseas in Germany as a Specialist Four (SP4). After his military service, Ray built a career as a commercial HVAC mechanic, dedicating over 30 years to his trade. Ray was a wicked guitar player and a lifelong lover of music. Whether it was classic rock, blues, or an acoustic riff echoing through the house, music was one of his truest forms of expression. His deep appreciation for melody and rhythm shaped much of his life and brought joy to those lucky enough to hear him play. His hands told the story of a life built from scratch—rough, calloused, and full of purpose. His heart told the story of a man who gave all he could, loved quietly but deeply, and never took life for granted. Ray is survived by his beloved wife, Belinda Marshall; daughter Ashley Marshall; son Tyler Yost and daughter-in-law Emily Yost; and grandsons Ezra and Arlo Yost. He is preceded in death by his parents Dolan and Iris Cargile and his son Zachary Yost. A celebration of Ray’s life will be held on March 23, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM at the Marshall’s House (7623 Brickmaker Ct. Plainfield, IN 46168). A graveside service will take place on March 31, 2025, at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver, Colorado, from 12:30 PM to 1:00 PM. Ray’s legacy is one of strength, kindness, and quiet devotion. May his memory bring comfort to those who knew him. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider donations be made in Ray’s memory to Alzheimer’s Association.
