Ramona Masten

Ramona Pearl Masten, 87, died Sunday March 9, 2025. Ramona was born September 20, 1937 in Crawfordsville, IN to Henry and Dorothy Richardson Sparks. 

She graduated from Crawfordsville High School in 1955. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University in 1959. She married Ronald Masten on October 4th, 1959. Ramona worked as nurse when first married until she welcomed their first daughter in 1960 and made the decision to “retire”, and raise 4 additional daughters and a son. Ramona was a member of Plainfield Christian Church. Ramona generously volunteered her time with Avon Schools PTO, Avon Band Boosters, Hendricks County 4-H Sewing and Fashion Revue projects and Threads of Joy. Over the years Ramona taught her daughters, grandchildren and countless young 4-Hers how to sew. Her patience and expertise will be remembered and passed on for generations to come.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron in 2013. She is survived by her children Debbie(Steve)Larkin, Donna(Walter)Kegebein, Karen(Mike)Hayden, Bonnita(Tim)Whicker, Stacey(Chris)Bergstrom, and David(Tara)Masten and 20 beloved grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. Also surviving are her sister Dorene Walden, brother in law, Joe(Ruth)Masten, and sisters in law Doris Carlton, Helen Masten and Carol McGowan.

Memorial contributions can be made in her honor to Hendrickscountycf.org and donate to Hendricks County 4-H Foundation or Threads of Joy C/0 Plainfield Christian Church.

Visitation will be Wednesday, March 12, 2025 from 5:00 to 8:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be on Thursday, March 13, 2025 at 11:00 am in the Plainfield Christian Church (800 Dan Jones Road, Plainfield, IN 46168).  Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.
