Michaela Joy (Lawrence) Wagner of Katy, TX, formerly of Union City, IN, passed away on Saturday, July 22, 2017 in Memorial Hermann Medical Center, Houston, surrounded by family and friends.She was born on January 9, 1958 in Connersville, IN to Edward and JoAnn (Snyder) Lawrence.Known as Joy by many, she attended and excelled in the Union City Community School system. She alsoattended Indiana University where she studied Political Science. After college, Joy worked in theHendricks County Prosecutor’s Office, then accepted a position with the State of Indiana as a Supervisorin the Department of Health and Human Services. There she dedicated herself in helping others byenforcing, enhancing, and reforming support laws by interfacing with county, state, and federal officialsand staff. The highlight of her career was being invited to Washington, D.C. to testify before UnitedStates Congressional Committee Hearings of the House & Senate. Joy loved giving personalized andhandmade gifts to show how much she cared for the most important people in her life.Michaela was predeceased by her daughter, Meaghan Pope, and her parents, Edward Lawrence andJoAnn Statler. She is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Wagner, and sons Adam Pope and Lane Wagner,sisters Lenita Brewer and Stacia Lawrence, and brothers Scott Lawrence and Jonathan Lawrence. A MemorialGathering will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 4, 2017 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
