Michael D. Wetzel, 69, of Indianapolis, passed away January 31, 2025. He was born November 7, 1955 to Francis and Betty Jo (Dierich) Wetzel in Fort Campbell, KY. He was a 1974 graduate of Carmel High School. Mike retired March 2, 2017 after 40 years as a line-man. He worked 15 years for Duke Energy and 25 years at IPL. In the past Mike enjoyed golf, collecting guitars, guns, knives and watches. For decades his favorite past time was intercessory prayer. He facilitated various prayer teams at different churches and together with his wife they served as Assistant Pastors/Prayer Pastors at Cityview AG church in Indianapolis. Their primary role was to oversee Cityview"s S.W.A.T. ministry for formerly homeless men(servants with a testimony). Mike was very passionate about serving the homeless in Indianapolis and winning souls for Christ. He spent his retirement years praying for his family, friends, MMUTB homeless ministry and our country. His famous saying was, "Life's short...pray hard!" He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Mike was preceded in death by his eldest son, Thomas Wetzel; brother Matt Wetzel; parents, Francis and Betty Wetzel. He is survived by his wife, Jennifer (Biddle) Wetzel; a son, Nicolas (Brittany) Wetzel; three stepdaughters, Tayetim (Tim) Davis, Ashlyn (Ray) Nave, and Aubrie (Brandon) Anderson; brother-in-law, Bryan (Susie) Kennedy, sister-in-law, Kim Kennedy; two grandchildren, Remi and Leo; and 4 step-grandchildren, Case, Judson, Finlee, and Foster; nephews, Joe (Jerra) Kennedy-Engle and Sean (Chrissy) Kennedy Engle; niece, Kaitlin Kennedy. A Celebration of Life service will be held at BETHEL FAMILY WORSHIP CENTER, 24 S. Lynhurst Dr Indianapolis 46241 on Friday, March 21, 2025 at 7:00 pm where friends may call from 4:00 pm until service time at 7:00 pm at the church. The service will be officiated by Pastors Ken Duke, Tim McNamee, Denise Howell and Debbie Calvert. Please come as you are and only wear black if you want to. We will celebrate the gift of Mike's life. Flowers can be delivered to the church the day of service. Any monetary donations will help with funeral expenses and future needs.
