Michael Lee "Pluck" Jeffries

April 17, 1942 — July 23, 2017

Michael Lee "Pluck" Jeffries, 75, of Plainfield, passed away July 23, 2017 after a short illness of pneumonia.  He was born April 17, 1942 to the late Herman and Mary Alice (Wheat) Jeffries in Terre Haute, IN.  He was a graduate of Harry E. Wood High School, Indianapolis, class of 1961.  He entered the US Army and his basic training was at Ft. Leonard Wood, MO.  Later he was assigned to Europe in transportation.  After the service he worked with his father at the NY Central Railroad facility at Beech Grove.  He then worked in production at Allison Gas Turbine for 30 years retiring in 1993.  Throughout his life sports was his passion;  from fishing, competitive roller skating, offroad racing, his MB model Jeep, Purdue University basketball and football, Plainfield HS sports, radio controlled car racing and Sprint Car racing of today.   He also enjoyed meeting others while ushering at Colts games at Lucas Oil Stadium.  Mike is survived by his sister, Virginia L. "Ginny" (Michael) Edwards; his aunt Mildred (Wheat) Bland; cousins, William (Carole) Bland and William Wheat; brother-in-law Ralph (Barb) Wischmeyer; nephews, Aaron M. (Michelle) Edwards and Scott (Tracey) Wischmeyer; great nieces and nephews, Alyssa and Luke Wischmeyer and Ethan Edwards.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Sandra Sue (Jeffries) Wischmeyer.  Funeral services will be at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, July 26, 2017 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Wednesday from 4:00 pm until service time at 7:00 pm.  Burial will be on Thursday, July 27 at 11:00 am at the Rosedale Cemetery.  Mike's family would like to thank all the staff at Hendricks Regional Health, St. Vincents and Seton Hospitals for their care and work during his illness.  We would also like to thank all of Mike's friends for all of their thoughts, calls and prayers.
