Mary K. Springer

Mary Kathleen "Mary K" Springer passed away on March 18, 2022 surrounded by loved ones in her Avon, Indiana home following a long illness. The only child of Barbara and Kennett Chandler, born on September 12, 1937 in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Shortridge High School. Throughout her lifetime, she filled many roles, including flight attendant and Sunday School Teacher. She worked for the Indy Parks Department for a number of years. She was a tireless volunteer for sporting events and various other activities. She was a member of the American Legion Post 64 Ladies Auxiliary, VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Eastern Star and Red Hat Society. She loved to cook enormous meals for her family and friends and she enjoyed crocheting. Her most important role was mother to three children and wife to her loving husband.  She is survived by her husband, Phillip Springer, and her children Jeff (Gigi) Springer, Kristi (Patrick) Burris and Adam Springer, a sister in law Paula Hanson as well as a number of nieces and nephews. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Mary K's caregivers, especially her nieces Tana Meko, Dawn Springer and Rebecca Beck. Your kindness is so appreciated.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Wednesday from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm.  Entombment will be in Washington Park North Cemetery, Indianapolis.  In lieu of flowers, the family requests that you make a donation to the American Alhizemers Association.
