March 18, 1938 — May 20, 2024

Plainfield

Mary L. Anderson, 86, of Plainfield, IN, formerly of Mooresville, passed away May 20, 2024.  She was born March 18,1938 to the late Oscar and Eileen (Destrampe) Kjellgren in Escanaba, MI.  She was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Plainfield.  Mary loved life and the outdoors working in her flowerbeds or gardening. Her favorite holiday was Christmas and it was done up like something out of a magazine, every room with its own theme and tree. She was beyond talented with crafts, loved garage sales; always finding that hidden treasure.  Traveling was a cornerstone of our family and she always had that lucky spin on the slot machines.  She loved animals and would take in the strays, especially cats.  She devoted herself to family, always involved with activities at the schools and supporting us in all our activities. She always made sure dad always had a project to do, never idle. In all, she loved her family, all the grandkids and could always find something unique for them.  She was the glue that kept us together and kept the ship right.  Mary is survived by her husband of 65 years, Wayne H. Anderson.  She is also survived by two sons, Scott W. (Estrella) Anderson, and Todd (Sarah) Anderson; a daughter, Bambi L. (Rick) Madden; 9 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister and her husband, Nancy and Pat Coyne.  Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm on Monday, May 27, 2024 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Monday from 1:00 pm until service time at 3:00 pm.  She will be laid to rest on Thursday, May 30 in the Gardens of Rest Cemetery in Wells, MI.   www.hamptongentry.com
