Margaret A. Ballard, 87, of Clayton, Indiana, passed away February 2, 2018. She was born on December 25, 1930 to the late Dana and Audrey (Boswell) Turner. Margaret began her career in the mailroom at L.S. Ayers, sold Avon Products and worked as a sales representative at the Hallmark Inkslinger Card Shop in Plainfield retiring in 1993. She loved motorcycle trips riding on the back of the bike with her husband both locally and across country, gardening and auto racing. Margaret enjoyed sharing that she and Daniel’s first date was at an auto race. Survivors include her husband and love of her life for 66 years, Daniel G. Ballard; daughters Myra (Buddy) Soles of Fayetteville, Pennsylvania and Diane (Steve) Allen of Clayton, Indiana; grandchildren Michele (Dan) Phillips, Bob (Charissa) Shields, Dara (Robert Brown) Allen, Scot (Stefanie) Allen; 2 great grandchildren Cora and Eleanor Shields; siblings Thelma Roth of Lebanon, Indiana, Charles Turner of Austin, Texas, Helen Thomas of Danville, Indiana and Bonnie O’Neill of Indianapolis, Indiana. Margaret was preceded in death by her son, Benjamin W. Ballard and brothers Dean Turner and Russell Turner. Private graveside services will be Monday, February 5, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Clayton Cemetery. Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
