Margaret A. Rose

September 14, 1931 — October 26, 2024

Plainfield

Margaret A. Rose, 93, of Plainfield, passed away on October 26, 2024. She was born September 14, 1931 to the late George and Ada (McCammack) Hurst in Greencastle, Indiana. Margaret retired from Farm Bureau Insurance in 1992. Margaret’s unending energy and love of people led her to various part time jobs after leaving Farm Bureau where she could shine her bright light of positivity and love. She fully retired at age 84.  Margaret loved watching sports, especially IU basketball, the Chicago Cubs and the Indianapolis Colts. March Madness was one of her favorite times of the year.  She was rarely without a smile and always welcomed family and friends to her home for any and all reasons. Margaret rarely complained but on the rare occasion one slipped, it was quickly answered with “I’ll be alright.” Her final weeks were spent with all who she loved and loved her, and those who came to comfort her always left comforted. Her quiet strength was her secret weapon.  Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; sisters Helen Elrod, Freda Parker, Pearl Jean Staley and Lillian Arnold; brothers Carl, Loyd, Paul Allen and Morris. She is survived by her son Jeffrey (Lanette), daughter Linda (Jim) Ryser; three granddaughters, Kelly (Thiago) Palmer, Mandy (Troy) Walton and Anna (Daniel) Schulz; and four great-grandchildren, Lucas, Gabriel, Mya and Jake; and her beloved dog, Oreo.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 16, 2024 from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm in the Stilesville Baptist Church (6009 South Street, Stilesville, IN 46180).
