Lois Jean Maxwell, 92, of Plainfield, passed away October 17, 2021. She was born February 8, 1929 to the late John and Georgia (Curtis) Long in Avon, IN. She was a homemaker and a member of the Plainfield Friends Meeting. She is survived by her husband, William Allen Maxwell; two sons, Howard W. (Patty) Maxwell and Randy J. Maxwell; four daughters, Carolyn S. Moore, Jeanette E. (Charles) Moore, Mary R. (Byron) Jones, and Amy M. Carpenter; two brothers, Roger (Mary Ann) Long and Rex (Patty) Long; 10 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.. Lois deeply loved her husband of 73 years, and all the children they had together. She loved to gather with the family around the holidays. She enjoyed the big meals and conversation while eating around a big table. She enjoyed playing Scrabble and card games. She loved to make up words in Scrabble the family would correct her on. The family was very watchful of her during the highly competitive games she was involved in. She loved helping neighbors by cooking meals or providing other support. She also was a long-time member of the Plainfield Friends Homemakers Club. She also volunteered at the Hendricks County Senior Citizens Center. She was also a 4-H club leader. She was preceded in death by her parents, 9 brothers, 3 sisters and 2 sons Hugh and Mark Maxwell. Funeral services will be at 12:00 noon on Saturday, October 23, 2021 at the Grace Fellowship Church, 6121 E. County Road 100 S, Avon, IN 46123, where friends may call at the church from 10:00 am until service time at 12:00 noon.
