Keith Edward Taylor

February 24, 1954 — April 12, 2023

Keith Edward Taylor, 69, of Plainfield, passed away on April 12, 2023. He was born February 24, 1954 to the late Ray E. and Bernadine A. (Engelbrecht) Taylor. After attending college in Maryland, Keith began his career in the hospitality industry. Most notably, he spent many years as the manager at the Indianapolis Athletic Club as well as several hotels. Later in life, he was the Assistant Golf Pro at Twin Lakes Golf Club. Keith loved animals of all types, and he was a dedicated volunteer where animals were concerned. At Thera-Tails, he helped children with special needs learn to ride the horses that he helped care for. He specifically loved Clydesdales, and was the proud owner of Lucky Charm. He also spent countless hours volunteering at the Indianapolis Zoo, where he spent his own time researching the orangutans and kangaroos in order to better serve the guests of those pavilions. In addition, the Indianapolis Zoo’s annual wine auction benefitted from his willingness to share his extensive wine knowledge. On September 1, 1979, Keith married Linda Taylor, who survives. Other survivors include brothers Gary (Bonnie) and Wayne (Anne) Taylor, Linda’s parents, Larry and Karol Gilfillan, her sisters, Stephanie (Steve) Monaghan and Ellen (Jeff) Graber. Nieces and nephews include Kevin (Michelle) Taylor, Sarah (Adam) Grannan, Jennifer (Tom) Cuneio, Benjamin Taylor, Daniel and Qing Monaghan, Joseph Monaghan, Aaron Graber and Tristan Graber. Grand nieces and nephews include Kiah and Jonah Cuneio, Carter, Garrett, Brogan and Kellen Taylor, and Kaiya Monaghan. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 18th, 2023 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call from 1:00 until the service begins at 3:00 pm.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Thera-Tails or the Indianapolis Zoo.
