Karen L. Coon

Karen Coon, 80, of Greencastle, passed away on July 20, 2019.  She was born in Plainfield, IN on May 25, 1939 to the late Wilfred and Dorris (Hardin) Heald.  Karen had various jobs, the one she enjoyed the most was a  health  advocate for Key Consumer in Indianapolis.  She was a loving wife, mother and dedicated homemaker.  Karen loved her large extended family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.  She was a real people person and didn't know a stranger.    She enjoyed writing poetry and short stories, singing, dancing, walking in the woods, crafting, baking, and gardening.  Karen was preceded in death by her brother, Alan Heald, and grandchildren, Kyle and Catelyn Schaefer.  Visitation will be Tuesday, July 23, 2019 in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home from 5:00 to 8:00 pm.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, July 24, in the funeral home at 11:00 am.  Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Survivors include her husband, David Coon; daughters, Denise (Ron) Gaskins and Debbie Schaefer; sons, Rick (Rebecca) and Mike (Betsy) Hallatt; sisters, Myrna (Donald) Peacock, Nita Bogart, Diana Hall, Eileen Heald and Evelyn (Dennis) Danner; 13 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren.
