Judy K Fife, 80, of Plainfield, IN, passed away on Saturday December 2nd, in her home filled with loving family. Judy was born the baby of 11 children on December 8th, 1942, to Paul V Walker and Anna B (Cannady) Walker in Washington, Indiana. She graduated from Washington Catholic High School in 1960 and moved to Indianapolis.
She met Kenneth Gordon Fife of Flora, IN while working at International Harvester in 1966, and they married on April 1st of 1967. Unlike their anniversary date, their marriage was never a joke. They were married for 56 years at the time of her passing. They shared love, laughter and a large group of family and friends. She was a devoted mother to her sons Kevin and Keith. She had a sharp eye and seemed to have a sixth sense (and a great network of neighbors) ensuring that her sons did not get away with much.
Judy worked as a school secretary for Nativity Catholic School, Acton Elementary, and Mary Adams Elementary, before becoming a Bus Aide for Avon Transportation. She was adored by her coworkers and students.
Judy enjoyed playing cards, drinking coffee, talking late into the night, camping, and spending time with her many loved ones. She helped to organize a biennial Walker family reunion, bringing together her siblings and their families for a weekend to swim, play Bingo and outdoor games, have a Euchre tournament, and spend hours talking around the campfire, catching up on life. Judy loved fiercely and has many devoted nieces, nephews, and COUSINS! Recent reunions attracted over 100 relatives.
Judy was preceded in death by her parents Paul and Anna Walker, her son Keith Fife, and her siblings Alma (Jim) Summers, Vincent (Wilma) Walker, Bill Walker, Paul (Mildred) Walker, Colleen (Ralph) Susan, Robert (Marge) Walker, Ruth (George) Clark, Charles (Kay) Walker, Clara (Bob) Fearrin, Ann (Kermit) Beasley.
She is survived by her Husband Gordon, Son Kevin (Debbi) Fife, Daughter-in-law Kelly Fife, Granddaughters Kristin (Mike) Swank, Jessica (Eric) Brooks, Shelby Roose, Grandson Keagan Fife, Great Grandsons Aidin Swank and Carter Brooks.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home at 106 Shaw St, Plainfield, IN on Saturday, December 9th from 1-3pm, with a service at 3:00pm. Family may arrive at Noon. In lieu of flowers, Judy asks that donations be made to the charity of your choice.
She leaves behind many loving family and friends who will forever remember her for her sharp wit, her love of fun, and the amazing woman she was. Judy had a zest for life that will be sorely missed.
