Joyce E. Emshwiller

July 17, 1949 — May 25, 2019

Joyce E. Gill-Emshwiller of Plainfield, Indiana, age 69, passed away on Saturday, May 25, 2019.  She was born on July 17, 1949 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Lather Posey and Caroline Broshia Hylton.  Joyce graduated from Benjamin Davis High School in 1967.  The last twenty years of her career, prior to retirement, was spent with Knight Transportation, where she was the Director of Driver and Employee Development.  She was affectionally known, and called, “MOM” by the staff and drivers.  Joyce impacted the lives of everyone she encountered in her life.  Joyce loved her family and her friends.

Joyce loved her grandson, Bradley, beyond belief.  She followed Brad and his friends through elementary, middle and high school, as well as College, in their football, basketball games and wrestling matches.  Great times were spent with all of the kids when they were gathered at the house. 

Joyce is survived by her husband of twenty years, Jon A. Emshwiller, son Jonathon Gill of Plainfield, grandson Bradley Gill, son Jack (Mary) Emshwiller of Beech Grove, Michael (Brent) Emshwiller of Lenox, Michigan, brother Larry (Anna) Hylton of Brownsburg, nephews Greg (Terri) Hylton and Eric (Mercy) Hylton, 3 great-nieces and 2 great-nephews. 

Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Thursday, May 30, 2019 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call on Thursday from 11:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm at the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.

In lieu of flowers, pleased donate to the Hendricks County Animal Shelter.
