Jon R. Reeves, 84, of Plainfield, passed away peacefully on July 1, 2021 surrounded by loving family members in his cabin on Sweetwater Lake. He and his wife of sixty-four years, Darlene (Eggers) Reeves, enjoyed time with their children, grand children and great grandchildren at their home in Avon and at the lake house. Waiting for his soon to be bride to graduate high school in 1956 from Ben Davis High School and he having graduated from Plainfield in 1954, he joined the United States Navy Reserves to bide some time where he served for six years but married Darlene in December of 1956 shortly after she finished high school. Jon was an entrepreneur at heart and always said that if you want to succeed at anything, be the best at it. Following in his father’s footsteps, he worked at Link Belt on Rockville Road for a few years to gain more experience in the tool & die field and then started the Triangle Engineering Corporation in 1964 in Indianapolis. In 1966, Jon brought on another partner, David Golay, who took Triangle Engineering to new heights and shared in the successes for over fifty years and remains a partner today. In the 1990s, the computer age commanded another partner, Doug Staten, who runs Triangle today. The company grew to become a leader in manufacturing. Triangle Engineering was recognized by the then mayor of Indianapolis, Mayor Ballard, as a long-standing, reputable company in Indy at Triangle’s 50th year celebration in 2014. Jon enjoyed golfing with his buddies in his free time and loved restoring a 1929 Ford Model A Coupe and a 1950 Ford Custom convertible. He won many awards at car shows for his restoration finesse. He was a purist at heart. He had a passion for motorcycles - first being the Honda Gold Wing but then many styles of BMW bikes. With three other friends, Jon drove the United States 4 Corners Tour in 11 days and even purchased a special BMW Enduro motorcycle to drive alone from Indiana to the Arctic Circle and back. Jon was most recently a member of the Plainfield Christian Church, Kingsway Christian Church prior to that, and Faith Baptist Church for many years. He had a wonderful voice and was coaxed many times to sing in front of the church years ago. He was preceded in death by his brother, Max Reeves; sister, Barbara Swager - both Plainfield High School graduates along with their parents who also graduated Plainfield H.S., Charlotte (Cook) Reeves and Donald Reeves. Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 6, at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may visit from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm. Burial will follow in Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his loving wife, Darlene Reeves; sons, Andrew (Joy), Scott (Missy), Steven (Teresa) and Dan (Vanessa) Reeves; daughter, Joni Reeves; 14 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
