John E. Dingman, 80, of Plainfield, passed away on December 17, 2023. He was born in Marion, Indiana on September 7, 1943 to the late P. Warren Dingman and Esther Louise (Miller) Dingman. John was a United States Army Veteran and served his country during the Vietnam War. He was an environmental engineer for the Federal Aviation Administration for over 30 years. John was a member of the Plainfield Christian Church where he ventured on several mission trips. He was quite the handyman, jack of all trades you could say. John enjoyed fishing, traveling, classic cars and spending time with his family. Funeral services will be Friday, December 22, 2023 at 12:00 p.m. at the Plainfield Christian Church (800 Dan Jones Road, Plainfield, IN 46168) where friends may visit from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will follow with military honors at Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include his loving wife of 53 years, Phyllis Dingman; son, Matthew R. (Laura J.) Dingman; daughters, Kathleen M. Dingman and Laura E. (Mitch) Dean; brothers, Richard (Mary) Dingman and James (Carol) Dingman; sister, Norma (John) Heckathorn; four grandchildren, Abigail Dingman, Collin Dean, Kayleigh Dean and Cameron Dean.
