Joan Marie (Balmes) Kowalski, lovingly known as Joni, passed away on August 19, 2024, in Avon, Indiana, at the age of 69. Born on May 29, 1955, in Evanston, Illinois, Joni grew into a remarkable individual who dedicated her life to her family, faith and community. Joni attended Rugen and Glenview Jr. High School, followed by Glenbrook South High School, laying a strong foundation for her future endeavors. She later joined Home Depot, where she made significant contributions over her 21-year tenure. A woman of deep faith, Joni was an active member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help in Glenview and St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville, Ohio. Her commitment to her faith was evident in her devotion to spreading Jesus's message. Joni's talents extended to the kitchen and the canvas; she was a fabulous cook and an accomplished painter. These hobbies provided great joy not only to her but also to those who were close to her. She leaves behind a loving family: her sister, Barbara; twin sister, Susan (Jeffrey); brothers, Gregory (Kathye) and the late Jeffrey; sons, Daniel (Jessamay) and Patrick (Cherith); and grandchildren, Ruby, Frances, Reid, Hudson, and Hayden. She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews who will miss her dearly. Joni's life and legacy will be remembered by all who knew her as a beacon of love, faith and warmth. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Arrangements made by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home.
