Surrounded by family, Jeffery Scott Dorman, 65, of Plainfield, IN, joined his Heavenly Father on November 6, 2021. He was born November 21, 1955 in South Bend, IN, the son of Richard (deceased) and Norma Dorman. Jeff graduated from La Salle High School and completed his undergraduate degree at Indiana University of South Bend. He then moved to Indianapolis and graduated from IUPUI in 1983 with a joint J.D. and M.B.A. He also had his C.P.A. On October 4, 1986, he married the love of his life Stephanie Dorman, who survives. They recently celebrated 35 years of marriage. He is also survived by his son, Timothy (Danielle) Dorman, his daughter Lauren Dorman, his mother Norma Dorman, sisters Cheryl Dorman, Ann (Jim) Lai, nephews Stephen (Marcy) Lai, Andrew (Sarah) Lai, and grand-dogs Piper and Chumley. Jeff became a Christian and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior at a young age and was a member of Calvary Church in Plainfield, IN. Jeffery began his career with the Indiana Department of Revenue as a hearing officer. He was a Deputy Attorney General at the Indiana Attorney General’s Office. He then worked at the Indiana Statehouse in various capacities including Executive Director of the Indiana Agricultural Development Corporation and Executive Director of the Indiana Employment Development Commission. The highlight of his time working for the state was when he and Stephanie met at the Revenue Department. He then worked at Krieg DeVault Alexander & Capehart. In 1994, Jeff found his passion in operating his own law firm as Jeffery S. Dorman, Attorney at Law in Brownsburg, Indiana. Jeff loved spending time with his family and friends. He was always eager to lend a hand and help anyone in need. He enjoyed family vacations, college football, playing chess, and spending time outdoors. Jeff pursued his interest in politics by serving as a precinct committeeman. The visitation for Jeffery will be held at Calvary Church (1290 Center Street, Plainfield, IN 46168) on Friday, November 12, 2021 from 4-7pm. A brief visitation at 10am on Saturday, November 13, 2021 at the church will be immediately followed by the service at 11am with Jeff Tague officiating. The graveside service and burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield, IN. Hampton Gentry Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
