James A. Roberts, 92, of Plainfield, passed away December 6, 2017. He was born July 18, 1925 to the late James H. and Ethel (Hale) Roberts in Shelby County, KY. He was a US Army veteran of WWII. He served in the European Theater where he earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He returned home and married Leona K. Norman on August 7, 1946. He was a member of the Harrodsburg and Plainfield Assembly of God. He worked as a carpenter for GM Truck & Bus plant for over 30 years retiring in 1988. James is survived by two sons, Norman A. (Dottie) and Ben L. (Anita) Roberts; a brother, Joe Roberts; 2 grandchildren, Christopher Roberts and Dakota (Matthew) Rhodes; and 2 great grandchild, Kassady Roberts and Austin Rhodes. He was preceded in death by his wife, Leona Kay (Norman) Roberts; a son, Dale Lee Roberts; two brothers, Paul and Russel Roberts; and two sisters, Mildred Wells and Evelyn Brinager. Visitation will be from 1:00 to 5:00 pm on Sunday, December 10, 2017 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Monday, December 11 in the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be in Clover Hill Cemetery, Harrodsburg, IN.
