James E. Riley

James Elmore Riley 85 of Plainfield IN passed away May 13 2023.  He was born in New Hartford MO July 7 1937,  the youngest child and only son of the late James Samual and Madge Inez (Dempsey) Riley.  James loved to travel and eventually made his home in Dallas Texas where he retired from the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center.  He enjoyed baseball and was a big fan of the Texas Rangers and the Dodgers.  Although James was not able to join the military for health reasons he loved America and was very patriotic, always supporting his country.  He eventually moved to Plainfield IN in 2013 to be close to Nell Wilson, his only surviving sister at that time.  Besides his parents preceding him in death were his 8 sisters; Lucille Shepard, Rosemary Loveless, Naomi Hinghaus, Evelina James, Isabelle  Pottorff, Dorothy Dingerson, Wilma Valle and Nell Wilson. James also leaves behind many nieces and nephews and friends.  A  private graveside service will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023  in the Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.  Arrangements by Hampton Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
