James Michael (Jim) Reistad II, 71, of Plainfield, In., passed away after his tired heart gave out on March 23, 2018. He had an infectious smile and a joyous laugh and was loved by all that knew him. He truly never met a stranger and made lifelong friends throughout his time on Earth.
During Jim’s long career in sales he represented pharmaceutical products, sporting goods, animal health products, and motor sport events. While in Plainfield he managed Mitch’s Ace Hardware Store and later demonstrated for Weber Grill. In recent retirement years he drove part time for Enterprise Rental Company.
Jim’s passion was going fishing and hunting. He made countless trips with buddies to Missouri, Nebraska, Canada, and beyond where he took the opportunity to hone his story-telling skills. He was most proud to share his love for BBQ by hosting the annual Reistad Ribfest. He loved life and lived it to the fullest; he will be terribly missed.
He joins in Heaven his parents, James M. and Janann Reistad, his son Matthew Reistad and his sister-in-law Elizabeth Steupert. He is survived by his wife Heidi Reistad, his children, daughter Anna and sons James M. III and Kelly Reistad; his sister Paulette (Ralph) Strader; his brothers-in-law Juergen and Dirk (Annemarie) Steupert; his grandchildren Emily, Haylie, Alan, Kaydin, and Mariella Reistad; six nieces and one nephew, father and mother-in-law Friedel (Ria) Steupert and numerous cousins.
His life will be celebrated on Saturday, March 31, 2018, at Hampton & Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, with a visitation from 1-3p.m. and a memorial service immediately following at 3:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Jim’s name to Mooresville Christian Academy, Mooresville, In., or the charity of your choice.
