James R. Pound, 75, of Plainfield, passed away March 15, 2018. He was born December 3, 1942 to the late Herbert and Dorothy (Richey) Pound in Terre Haute, IN. He was an US Air Force veteran. He was a member of the Plainfield Masonic Lodge #653, the Scottish Rite, the Plainfield Eagles #3207 and the FOP #132. James was Chief of Police for the Town of Plainfield from 1978 to 1988. He then worked for the Department of Corrections as an internal investigator for both the Boys and Girls School for 19 years retiring in 2007. He also worked security at the Hendricks County Court House for 5 years until 2012. Jim is survived by his loving wife, Betty J. (Doan) Pound; his daughter, Jami L. (Paul) Williams; two grandchildren, Brian Williams and Chelsea Williams; and a brother, Richard (Phyllis) Pound. He is also survived by Betty's children, Michael J. and Rob (Amy) Shrake and Kate (Chris) Kuehn. Visitation will be from 2:00 to 7:00 pm on Monday, March 19, 2018 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Funeral services will be at 10:30 am on Tuesday, March 20 in the First Baptist Church of Plainfield, 1012 Stafford Road. Interment, with military honors, will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.
