James "Jim" G. Conger, 87, of Plainfield, passed away July 20, 2017. He was born October 5, 1929 to the late Wayne H. and Alta R. (Breedlove) Conger in Indianapolis, IN. He was a member of the Plainfield Church Of Christ. He owned Conger's Finishing Service and Furniture and Antique Restoration for 30 years retiring in August of 1985. Jim is survived by his wife, Ruth A. (Long) Conger; a son, James C. (Nancy) Conger; two daughters, Julie (Edward) Goforth and Amy (Ken) Flajs; 7 grandchildren, Ben Conger, Aaron Conger, Jenna Burchett, Lucas Goforth, Megan Gummer, Lindsey Stevenson and Abby Hostetler; and 8 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son, Bruce Conger, a daughter, Jean Conger, and brothers, Willard and Robert Conger. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Monday, July 24, 2017 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. Funeral services will be at 11:00 am on Tuesday, July 25 at the funeral home. Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Avon High School Alumni Association, 233 N. County Road 900 E. Avon, IN 46123.
