James W. Bridges

James "Jim" W. Bridges, 92, of Plainfield, passed away on November 29, 2023.  He was born in Plainfield, Indiana on July 5, 1931 to the late James A. Bridges and Helen (Baldock) Bridges.  Jim was a United States Air Force veteran serving during the Korean War.  After his military service, he worked as a salesman for over 25 years. Jim married his wife Norma, who survives, on July 8, 1951 and were happily married for 72 years.  He was a member of the Plainfield Christian Church and the Plainfield American Legion Post #329.  Jim enjoyed fishing, boating, water skiing and playing tennis in his spare time.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Emma Lou Bridges; Son-in-law, Chet Hammons.  Funeral services will be Wednesday, December 6, 2023 at 1:00 pm in Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home where friends may visit from 11:00 am until the time of service at 1:00 pm.  Burial with military honors will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.  Survivors include his wife, Norma Bridges; son, James (Jill) Bridges; daughter, Cynthia Hammons; several grandchildren, step grandchildren and great grandchildren.
