Helen Joyce Reid

Helen Joyce Reid, 79 of Plainfield, IN passed away on July 15, 2018 peacefully in her sleep.

Helen was born in London, England on August 28, 1938. She married William McBride Reid on June 8, 1957 in Glasgow Scotland, where they resided and started their family. Upon moving to the USA, Helen started her career as an office manager at Dr. Hopkins, Jones & McGarvery’s ENT Medical Office where she dedicated her time and effort for more than 30 years before retiring to Sarasota in 1997. She loved to bake her famous sausage rolls, dumplings, sultanta cakes, and her famous British sausage. She enjoyed cruising the Caribbean, hosting family and friends from the UK and Indiana, playing bingo, cards, and Yahtzee with her grandchildren.

Helen is survived by her two children; William/Billy (Susan) Reid and Shirley (Jim) Clark, 6 grandchildren; Heather (Jason) Yackle, Jimmy (Jene) Clark, Willie Reid, Trisha (Andrew) Purdy, Rachael Reid, and Brittany Clark. She also has 6 great-grandchildren; Austin, Makaylea, Addison, Brooklyn, Isabella and Sofia. Her sister Sheila Pocock survives in England, as well as many other beloved family and friends.

She is preceded in death by her husband William McBride Reid and her brothers Jimmy, John, and Roy and sister Penny.
