Emily Sue Austin

Emily Sue Austin, 80, of Plainfield, passed away on November 5, 2023. She was born on January 4, 1943 in Ellettsville, Indiana to the late Herschel and Dorothy (Arthur) Stanger. Emily worked as a tax accountant for many years. She enjoyed cooking, game shows, playing poker and especially spending time with her grandchildren. Emily was preceded in death by two sons, Scott F. Clark and William L. Clark; daughter, Rebecca M. Smith; brother, Gary F. Stanger; and sister, Nancy D. Murphy. Visitation will be on Thursday, November 9, 2023 at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home from 4:00 to 8:00 pm. Funeral services will be Friday, November 10, 2023 in the funeral home at 11:00 am. Burial will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery.  She is survived by her loving husband, Sherman L. Austin; daughter, Shelly (Dwayne) Christian; sister, Kay Schjoll; grandchildren; Josh (Stacey), Kiley (Ricky) and their son, Gage; Emiley (Dmitri), Ceanne (Drew), Brittany and her children, Jason, Skyler, Kameron and Maia; Joseph and his children Brandon and Maddie; Bailey; Ryan (Amy) and their children Gavon, Gwen and Lilly; Travis (Chrissy) and their children Cohen, Kayla and Oliver; Caitlin and her son Owen; Kevin.
