Ellen L. Veirs

January 18, 1947 — August 26, 2023

Ellen L Veirs, 76, of Plainfield, passed away August 26, 2023  She was born January 18, 1947 to the late Earl and Lucille (Olson) Wennlund in Geneva, IL.  She received her Associates Degree from I.U. School of Nursing, graduating first in her class and Summa Cum Laude.  She was a RN for Heartland Hospice from 2007 to present day.  She was a member of Living Christ Lutheran Church.   Ellen enjoyed baking, particularly the family bread recipe handed down from Nana. Ellen was the ever dutiful drill sergeant when it came to Bread Boot Camp for anyone willing to brave the learning process for the time honored recipe. Ellen also enjoyed music, bird watching and gardening.  Ellen was a woman of great faith who loved God and found comfort in the scriptures. For many years, Ellen had served in the church choir as the director, and at one time was a co-leader of the high school youth group.  Ellen was a devoted and loving wife 56 years to her husband Richard. Ellen, who survives her, dearly loved her family and took great pride and joy in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.  Ellen is also survived by two sons, Ted E. (Dawn) Veirs and Craig H. (Sandra) Veirs; two brothers, Carl (Cathy) Wennlund and Peter Guzman; four sisters, Jan Breeden, Ruth Ann (John) Munger, Martha (Bruce) Breisath, and Luella Guzman; 4 grandchildren, Alexandra, Hannah, Jonah and Nelson; and 5 great grandchildren.  Ellen will be sorely missed as the world will fall into chaos without her aggressive guidance and keen insights for direction. QVC will take Ellen’s passing very hard as they are about to have several consecutive poor financial quarters,  those who know… know.  Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Thursday, August 31, 2023 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.  Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm Friday, September 1, 2023 in the Living Christ Lutheran Church, 4800 S. County Road 600 E (Moon Road), Plainfield.  Burial will follow in White Lick Cemetery, Mooresville.
