Elizabeth Ann (Murtaugh) Hygh, 92, of Plainfield, was born September 24, 1931 in Champaign, IL to the late Hugh and Esther (Ritenour) Murtaugh.  Elizabeth was a homemaker raising 4 children, Patrick and Mark (Colleen) who preceded her in death, Tim (Karen), and Mary. Elizabeth married the late William Edward Hygh on November 26, 1952 in Springfield, MO. who preceded her in death.  Elizabeth enjoyed her 7 grandchildren; Shawn Hygh (Lee), Timothy Hygh (Becky Jo), Jeremy Kammer (Monique), Jodi Kraning (Casey), Meghan Hygh, Matthew Hygh, and Caitlin Gilliam. 8 Great Grandchildren, Hudson Kammer, Kaiden Kammer, Layla Kammer, Joseph Hygh, Elijah Elkins, Parker Kraning, Rylee Kraning, and Avery Bradley.  Elizabeth was the organist at St. Susanna Catholic Church spanning 40 plus years and enjoyed playing the organ at home with the family.  Elizabeth was a great cook. Cooking was her great passion, entertaining friends and family for the Super Bowl, Indy 500 and the traditional Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners. Many dinner parties with friends which created fantastic memories for all.  She enjoyed traveling with Bill in their RV from the East Coast to Florida and Alabama. They enjoyed their retirement years fully creating memories and making new friends. Settling down and parking the RV at Hickory Hills and creating even more family and friend memories.  The family would like to thank the many people who cared for Elizabeth during her illness. We are so very thankful for the care and company she received at HRH from the doctors and nurses in the ER, the ICU, and the Medical Floor; and the personnel and staff at Life’s Journey who made her final weeks with us so peaceful and full of love.  Our family is truly grateful for you all.   A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Susanna Catholic Church, (1210 E. Main St., Plainfield) at 11:00 am on Tuesday, June 18, 2024, and where friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 am until Mass time at 11:00 am.  Entombment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield.  Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
