Elizabeth “Libby” Hammond, 73, of Plainfield, passed away August 28, 2023.  Libby was born in Evansville, IN to parents  the late R. Case & Ruth Dunn Hammond on May 15, 1950.  Libby is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Richard “Rick" Hammond and Laurence “Larry” Hammond. Surviving her is cousins, Jeffrey D. Benze (married to Eileen) and Donna B. (married to Terry) Wikman, and too many chosen family to name. Libby attended Kindergarten through High School in Evansville, IN.  She graduated from Indiana State University Terre Haute Campus with a degree in teaching.  Libby taught at the Cannelton Elementary School for 6 – 1/2 years.   She moved to Indianapolis, IN where she retired from AT&T.  Libby had 2 passions: 1. Waycross Episcopal Camp  and 2. Hendricks County Food Pantry Coalition.  She was a camp counselor at Waycross Episcopal Camp for several years.  She was the director of St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Plainfield, IN Food Pantry for many years.  Libby was very instrumental in the forming of the Hendricks County Food Pantry Coalition, where she served as Vice President.  For the past 2 years Libby assisted in the setting up of the Food Pantry at Stilesville Christian Church, Stilesville, IN.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday October 14, 2023 at 1:00 pm at: St Augustine Episcopal Church, 600 N Washington St., Danville, IN 46122.  In lieu of flowers Libby has requested that donations be made to the Hendricks County Community Foundation, donations can be made online, here is the link: https://hendrickscountycf.org/donate/donate.html, use the drop box and chose “Hendricks County Food Pantry Coalition."   If you choose to mail a check there will be envelopes available at the Celebration of Life Services and the following will need to be written in the memo line of the check for “Hendricks County Food Pantry Coalition."  Libby will be greatly missed by many for her generous spirit and willingness to take care of the lost and lonely.  Arrangements by Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield.
