Eleanor Louise Edwards

August 17, 1939 — March 6, 2022

Eleanor Louise (Doughty) Edwards, 82, of Plainfield, passed from this life on March 6, 2022.  She is preceded in death by her beloved husband of 40 years, Gene Paul Edwards; parents, Joe and Florence Doughty; and a brother, Joe T. Doughty.  She is survived by her sisters, Delores Morphew, and Wilma (Larry) Morgan; and a sister-in-law, Kyla Doughty.  Though Eleanor never physically had children of her own, she was soon blessed with nieces and nephews, Vicki Carlile, Rob Ashbrook, Rhonda Byers, Stephanie Brown, Lisa Hathaway and Kyle Doughty and Britney Morgan.  Through those seven, her 'Doughty family' includes 16 great nieces and nephews, 19 great, great nieces and nephews and 2 great, great, great nephews.  Eleanor is also survived by nephews Bob Strawser, Cordy Strawser and nieces Sherrie (Dan) Fyffe and Marcia (David Alexander.  Eleanor was a faithful member of the Church of Christ.  We could not begin to list all the friendships and people she dearly loved at each of these locations but one lady has been a dear friend for many years.  There was hardly a day go by Eleanor didn't mention Martha Whittemore.  Eleanor truly enjoyed all her friends and neighbors and all the antics they had over the years.  The family would like to give a special thank you to all the doctors and specifically the nurses at Hendricks Regional Health who tended to Eleanor and her family during her time in the hospital.  Their concern and assistance was such a blessing during this time of sorrow.  One of Eleanor's favorite passages was Ecclesiastes 3:1-2a:"To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.  A time to be born, and a time to die..."   Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Tuesday, March 8, 2022.  Funeral services will be at 10:00 am on Wednesday, March 9, 2022 also in the funeral home.  Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in Greenwood.
