Edward M. Schmidt

Edward M. Schmidt, 57, of Avon, passed away May 29, 2017.  He was born in Vicenza, Italy on April 28, 1960 to the late Edward L. and Adelina (Dalfior) Schmidt.  Edward received his teaching degree from Indiana State University.  Edward was a Lieutenant Colonel for the United States Army National Guard retiring from active duty in 2010.  He served in Operation Iraqi Freedom and was based at Camp Balad.  Edward was the Deputy Chief Of Staff to the Adjutant General for the State of Indiana.    He was a member of St. Susanna Catholic Church.  Edward belonged to the St. Susanna School Commission.  He enjoyed seeing races especially the Indianapolis 500, playing the drums and smoking his cigars.  Edward was preceded in death by his brother, Al Schmidt.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, June 6, 2017 at 10:00 am in St. Susanna Catholic Church(1210 E. Main Street, Plainfield, IN 46168) where friends may call on Monday, June 5, from 4:00 to 8:00 pm.  Burial will be in Maple Hill Cemetery.  Survivors include his wife, Joanie Schmidt; daughter, Elizabeth Schmidt; son, Jonathan Schmidt; many cousins, nieces and nephews.
