Edward "Eddie" E. Racer, 86, of Avon, passed away July 8, 2020. He was born May 29, 1934 to the late Marcus and Helen (Meranda) Racer in Dunkirk, IN. He was a member of the Plainfield Masonic Lodge #653, the Indianapolis Scottish Rite, and the Plainfield Eagles. He worked in maintenance at ITT Huffman Specialty in Indianapolis for 33 years. Then he was a machine repairman at Caterpillar in Lafayette for 10 years retiring in 1998. Ed is survived by his wife of 66 years, Nancy A. (Syester) Racer; a son, Dennis E. Racer; two daughters, Cynthia A. (Gary) Thompson and Deborah (Stover) Racer Smith; a brother, Robert (Marcia) Racer; 5 grandchildren, Jason (Amy) Thompson, Matthew (Jamie) Thompson, Christopher (Angela) Thompson, Allison (Courtney) Bailey and Adam Smith, and 9 great grandchildren. He loved his family. Ed enjoyed camping and repairing anything electrical or mechanical. He loved to trade or barter. He will be missed greatly by his family. Visitation will be on Saturday, July 11, 2020 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. Family graveside services will follow in Floral Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
