Donna Gail Simmons, 71, of Avon, passed away November 14, 2021. She was born September 27,1950 to the late Fred and Ruth (Benge) Schooler in Valley Creek, TN. She was a devoted employee of Indiana Bell and Ameritech, beginning her 30-year career as a mail clerk and working her way into leadership roles including Lead College Recruiter and Director. She retired in 1999 and started her own HR consulting business. Donna joined Westview Baptist Church in 1959 and remained a faithful member until her death. During that time, she served as pianist, youth director, teacher, and was licensed to minister of the American Baptist Churches of Greater Indianapolis. Donna loved a beautifully landscaped lawn and enjoyed riding the lawn mower, cutting grass and tending her flowers. She had impeccable taste and loved decorating her home. Christmas was her favorite. She collected snowmen, had an impressive snowman ornament collection and proudly displayed them for all to enjoy. Donna loved spending time with her friends, family, and three grandchildren. Everyone she met was drawn to her. With a spiritual gift of encouragement, she inspired others to reach their full potential by challenging, comforting and guiding them to grow. Donna is survived by a son, Nick A. (Melinda) Simmons; a daughter, Angela R. (James) Kreitzer; a brother, Rick (Cindy) Schooler; a sister, Joan E. (Roger) Ridenour; three grandchildren, Drew and Aubrey Kreitzer and Kaylin Simmons; three nephews, Ryan, Zach and Jake Schooler; and 7 great nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, November 18,2021 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield. A funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Friday, November 19,2021 in the funeral home. Burial will follow in West Ridge Park Cemetery, Indianapolis.
