Dick Mayes, 92, of Plainfield, passed away October 6, 2022. He was born July 18, 1930 to the late Lee and Jeanne (Mize) Mayes in Indianapolis, IN. He was a veteran of the US Navy Reserves and was stationed in Cuba. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Plainfield. He was the owner of Accent Upholstery in Indianapolis. He was a devoted husband, father, grandpa, great grandpa, and great great grandpa. He loved his family and was a very generous giver with his time and talent. He was a man of many skills and he loved using his gift to teach or bless others. Dick is survived by his wife, Joyce (Medsker) Mayes; his daughter, Donna Hutchens and his step-sons, Jerry and Mike Medsker; his grandchildren, Shawn (Kim) Sidener, Wendy (Kevin) Taylor and Robyn (Mark) Crumpacker; his brother, Donald Mayes; 6 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Martha (Dougherty) Mayes; their son, Dickie Mayes; his siblings, Dorothy Orebaugh, Billie Mayes, Betty Summers, Peggy Mayes and Saralee Summers. There will be a receiving of friends from 5:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, October 21, 2022 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, with the service to follow the calling at 7:00 pm. Burial and a service of internment will be at Rocklane Cemetery,Greenwood on Saturday, October 22, 2022 at 10:30 AM.
