Christopher R. Claxton, 65, of Danville, passed away on March 27, 2025. He was born on June 24, 1959 in Herrin, Illinois to the late Gerald R. Claxton and Linda (Miller) Claxton. Chris moved from Illinois to Sacramento, California where he graduated from Rancho Cordova High School in 1977. After graduation, he honorably served in the United States Army from 1982 to 1986. Chris worked as an aircraft electrician for United Airlines, later working for Associated, a material handling equipment supplier. He was a member of the American Legion Post 118. Chris enjoyed hunting, fishing, boating, cooking, playing poker and being outdoors. His family has owned and operated the Clax Shack Bar & Grill in Clayton since 2018. He took trips to Alaska annually, occasionally bringing his family and friends along, as he was happiest with them, and on the river. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 5, 2025 at the Hazelwood Christian Church (9947 S. County Rd. 0, Clayton, IN 46118) starting at 2:00 p.m., where family and friends may visit from 11:00 a.m. until time of services. Survivors include his loving wife, Lori Claxton; son, Gerald Claxton; daughters, Brittany (Brian) Evans and Patia Claxton; brothers, Glenn Claxton and Dennis (Mai Mai) Claxton; 1 grandchild, Brian C. Evans Jr. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the family or V.A. monetary donations may be deposited into any of the General Post Fund accounts.
