Charles Herbert Hubbard, 95, of Plainfield, passed away on September 5, 2024. He was born to the late Ross and Blanche (Huls) Hubbard on March 10, 1929 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Charles was a George Washington High school graduate, later attending Purdue University where he earned his Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951-1954. Later in life, Charles worked as an electrical engineer for Public Service (Duke Energy) for many years before retiring in 1984. He went on to work for the Hendricks County Engineering Department, retiring in 1993. Charles also was a volunteer at the Indiana Boys School. He was a member of the Plainfield Friends Meeting, the Quaker Mens' Club, a 50-year member of Centre Lodge 23 FAM, and the Scottish Rite. Charles enjoyed gardening with family, watching sports, woodworking and ballroom dancing with Irvington Dance Club. Charles was an avid Purdue sports fan, but most of all, loved spending time with his grandchildren who affectionately called him "Cowpa." Charles is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Mary Margaret Hubbard; 4 brothers and 2 sisters. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 14, 2024 in the Plainfield Friends Meeting at 12:00pm, where friends and family can visit from 10:00am until time of service. Burial will follow to Maple Hill Cemetery. Survivors include daughters, Brenda (Phillip) Jackson and Karen (Fred Jr.) Means; grandchildren, Ted, Benji, J.J. and Hollianne Means, Maggie, Eris and Charlie Jackson; several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Plainfield Friends Meeting; Attention, Mission Outreach. Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
