Dr. Cecil Steven (Dr. Ike) Ikemire, 76, of Plainfield passed away peacefully at home surrounded by loving family on September 15, 2023. He was born November 26, 1946 in Indianapolis, Indiana to the late Cecil C. Ikemire and Thelma L. (Waller) Ikemire. Cecil served with the Army as a heavy equipment operator in the Vietnam War. After returning from war, he then served as a Military Policeman. Cecil was a graphic artist for well over 40 years. In February of 1999 he received with all honors, rights and privileges the degree of Doctor of Theology from the Anchor Theological Seminary of Texarkana, Arkansas. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and the American Legion Post 500 of Indianapolis, Indiana. Cecil's hobbies included being an artist/crafts of all aspects and mediums. He loved to fish, shoot archery, hunt, golf, roller skate, ice skate, dancing and bowling. On July 3, 1965, he married Carolyn C. Lewis, who survives. Other survivors are his son, Cecil S. Ikemire Jr.; daughter-in-law, Tracy R. Pease, of Plainfield; daughter, Christina Lynn Walkup; son-in-law, Jay A. Walkup of Mooresville; two brothers and sister-in-law, brother Rex A. Ikemire; sister-in-law Patti J. Ikemire; brother Dennis R. Ikemire; six grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother; Ronald L. Ikemire; both sets of paternal and maternal grandparents. Funeral services will be held at Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home on Friday, September 22, 2023 at 1:00pm. Friends may visit from 11:00 am until time of service. Burial and military honors will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Plainfield, IN.
