Catherine E. Robinson

Robinson, Catherine Ellen, “Cathy” (VanArsdale), age 69 of Indianapolis, went home to be with our Lord Jesus on Tuesday, March 30, 2021.  She was a graduate of Ben Davis High School and a member of the Grace Pointe Church of the Nazarene.  Cathy achieved a remarkable career in Public Safety as an Emergency Dispatcher and Supervisor.  Her career began at Aid Ambulance in the mid 1970’s where she met her husband in 1977.  She later joined the Indianapolis Fire Department as a 911 Control Operator and retired as a Supervisor.  She excelled in her service and received recognition and commendations throughout her career, and was awarded Dispatcher of the Year in 2008 by Indiana Emergency Medical Services Commission. She also engaged in training new dispatchers for both the Indianapolis Fire Department and the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy.   Cathy was active in the International Association of Public Communication Officers (APCO) and held the position of State Chair.  Cathy was a wonderful wife, mother and Grammy. She thoroughly enjoyed traveling, sailing, fishing and white-water rafting.  She and Greg enjoyed annual season tickets to Beef-n-Boards with plays and theater as well as Pop concerts with the Indianapolis Symphony. Part-time employment with Skyway Airlines/Midwest Express afforded numerous travels with her husband, children and best friends, covering every corner of the States. Cathy cherished yearly vacations with her husband to their condo in New Smyrna Beach to spend time with their children and grandchildren residing in Florida.  Preceded in death by her parents Cecil and Catherine (Stackhouse) VanArsdale and brother Harold and sisters Sally Bush and Joanne Thornburg. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Greg; daughters Stefanie Montgomery (John); Shelly Nelson (Bill); Sara Rivera (Nelson) and son Greg (Joanna); two brothers, Cecil (Christina) VanArsdale and Elbert VanArsdale; 10 grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews.  Visitation will be Wednesday, April 7, 2021 from 3:00 to 9:00 pm in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, and Thursday, April 8, from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. A private family service will follow. Entombment will be in Maple Hill Cemetery, Plainfield. Memorial contributions may be made to Fisher Center For Alzheimer's Research, FDR Station, P.O.
