Carolyn L. Janik, 83, of Plainfield, passed away August 23, 2024. She was born May 4, 1941 to the late Oscar and Marie (Lawson) Hoffman in Terre Haute, IN. She retired after many years from Lincoln Bank in Plainfield. She also worked part-time at the Hendricks County office in Danville. She was a member of Plainfield Bible Church. Carolyn lived in Terre Haute where she met Monte and lived there until 1977, when they moved to Plainfield. She was a very active member of the Plainfield Order of Eastern Star. She loved traveling around the world with destinations including Australia, Greece, Italy, and Germany. Among her many hobbies were crafts, quilting, knitting, scrapbooking and cross stitching; but her favorite pastime was spoiling her grandchildren and her great granddaughter. She also loved snow birding in Florida where she was able to go fishing, another one of her pastimes that she enjoyed. Carolyn is survived by her husband, Monte L. Janik; a son, Daniel S. (Debbie) Janik; a brother, Frank (Joann) Hoffman; a sister, Mary Thompson; two grandchildren, Hanna (Forrest) Roberts and Amber Janik; and a great granddaughter, Reagan Roberts. She was preceded in death by a son, Jeffrey Janik and a grandson, Nathan Janik. Funeral services will be at 1:00 pm on Tuesday, August 27, 2024 in the Hampton-Gentry Funeral Home, Plainfield, where friends may call from 10:00 am until service time at 1:00 pm on Tuesday. There will be an Eastern Star service at 12:45 pm. Burial will follow at Highland Lawn Cemetery, Terre Haute.
