Betty Esamann

May 9, 1930 — August 18, 2024

Plainfield

Betty Esamann passed from this life to rejoin the love of her life, Robert Esamann in God’s home. She was 94. Betty lived a long and glorious life with unwavering principles, a strong faith, and a strong love of family. Bob passed away in 1976 at the age of 47 and Betty never remarried. Instead, she stayed strong in her faith to God and heaped her love and attention on her family. They sustained her and gave her the strong will to live. In particular, she found great joy in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They always put a smile on her face. She was mom/mother to three children but because of her faith and compassion for others, many others felt compelled to call her mom. She grew up on the West Side of Indianapolis and after a family move, graduated from Mooresville High School in 1948. After Bob’s service in the Navy, they bought a newly constructed home at 509 Simmons St and called Plainfield home for the rest of their lives. Betty was a member of the Plainfield Christian Church and worked at Kroger in Plainfield as their head cashier until her retirement. She never spent a penny she didn’t have to and applied those skills as she dutifully balanced the books each week at work. She was demanding but compassionate, kind, generous and instilled strong values in her entire family and those with whom she interacted. She was humble, self-deprecating, respectful and full of Betty-isms which could always delight those who were around her. She was there for anyone who needed help or someone to listen. Betty Esamann is survived by her Daughter, Cheral (Mike) Elsbury, Sons Doug (Kim) Esamann and Brad (Kim) Esamann; Grandchildren Carly (Jeremy) Sumners, Ashley (Adam) Fish, Regan (Brad) Pitzer, Kalee (Ricky) Taylor, Conley Esamann (Morgan Cottongim), Nathan Esamann, Cameron Esamann and Allie Goins; Great Grandchildren Tenley Fish, Trey Fish, Raeley Shilling, Kaelan Esamann-Pitzer, Easton Pitzer, Remy Taylor, Ryah Taylor and Carson Esamann. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Esamann, mother and father, Harold and Pauline Farmer, a brother Jack Farmer and two sisters, Dottie Swinney and Judy Farmer. Funeral arrangements will be handled by Hampton Gentry Funeral Home. Visitation will be on Thursday, August 22 at the Plainfield Christian Church, 800 Dan Jones Rd., Plainfield from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm. Services will also be at the Plainfield Christian Church on Friday, August 23 at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Washington Park North Cemetery, 2702 Kessler Blvd W. Dr., Indianapolis immediately following the funeral service.
