Barbara Louise Hardt died on April 21, 2020 in Plainfield, Indiana. She was born Barbara Louise West on July 26, 1945 in Fairborn, Ohio to parents, James West and Carrie Adams West. She had one sibling, a sister, Elizabeth, who went by Libby. She grew up in the Dayton suburb, got a job at Wright-Patterson AFB nearby. She met Gordon Robert Luce, a captain, stationed there and they were married in 1969. They toured the country for his job for 2 years before settling in Arizona. They had 1 son, Bryan Luce. She divorced in 1991 and remarried to Donald Gene Hardt in 1994 and they were married until his death in 2007. She moved to Fishers, Indiana in 2007 to be closer to family and stayed in Indiana until her death.

She received degrees in English and Music at Grand Canyon College in Phoenix and had a life-long love of both. She was an excellent pianist and singer. She was a church organist, piano teacher and substitute music teacher at various periods in her life. Her primary career was as a legal secretary at some of the large law firms in Phoenix including Snell and Wilmer and Lewis and Roca. She was a deeply religious person and spent much of her time participating and guiding church choirs including her final one at Hamilton Hills Baptist Church in Fishers where she had many close friends in faith. Her love of God, family and country was always known, and she tried to give joy to others through her many talents. She was an excellent seamstress, loved cats and enjoyed movies, British culture and royalty.

She is survived by her son, Bryan, her daughter-in-law, Susan and her 3 grandchildren, Shannon, Jennifer and Christopher. She loved, was loved and will be missed.
